How to Sell Products on Your Showit Website: Exploring ECommerce Options

Whether you’ve already launched your Showit website and want to start selling products, or you’re just starting your website journey and need an online shop to sell your physical or digital products. It’s important to find the right ecommerce solution to fit your needs and budget.

Unlike other website builders on the market like Squarespace and Wix, Showit doesn’t have a built-in e-commerce platform. Therefore, as Showit designers and users we have to use third party software to sell your products. There’s three main contenders to choose from that all have different pros and cons. Whether you need an integrated store, quick and easy cart system, or strategic checkout, there’s an option for you.

Here’s a breakdown:

Option 1. Shopify Starter Plan (Formerly Shopify Lite) – for the Minimalist

What is it?

A simplified version of Shopify, perfect for those who want to sell under 15 products on their site. If you’re selling a few products or services, and want a quick and easy setup this option is for you.

How does it work?

You will design the shop pages in Showit and embed “Buy Now” buttons on your product pages. The products will be managed in Shopify. The shopping cart functions within your website and the user can checkout in a different tab.

Pros:

  • Embeddable “Buy Now” buttons.
  • Integrated shopping cart to keep customers on your site for longer.
  • Affordable at $9/month.

Cons:

  • Limited customization options.
  • Only one “buy button” per Showit page.
  • Requires keeping up two subscriptions: one for shopify one for Showit.

Option 2. ThriveCart – for the Strategist

What is it?

A cart solution tailored for high-ticket items and sales funnels. If you’re into high-ticket items and want to maximize each sale with upsells and downsells, ThriveCart is for you.

How does it work?

You will design the shop pages in Showit and link to an external checkout page, created in Thrivecart. The products will be managed in Thrivecart. There is no shopping cart option. but you can add upsells and downsells.

Pros:

  • Embed checkout buttons, product pages, and carts.
  • Upsell & downsell capabilities.
  • One-time lifetime purchase option.

Cons:

  • No traditional cart feature, meaning customers can’t add multiple products before checking out.

Option 3. WooCommerce – for the Visionary

What is it?

A free WordPress plugin that turns your site into a full-blown online store. If you have a range of products and want a seamless shopping experience with maximum customization, WooCommerce is your go-to.

How does it work?

WooCommerce integrates seamlessly with your Showit site via WordPress. You’ll need Showit’s advanced blog subscription for it to work, and the shop pages will be setup as custom WordPress pages.

Pros:

  • Seamless integration with Showit.
  • Highly customizable with numerous plugins.
  • Customer account login so your customers can access their purchases.
  • Integrated shopping cart to keep customers on your site for longer.
  • Excellent for SEO.

Cons:

  • Might require some tech-savviness or a developer for intricate customizations.
